Top 5 Creepy Pastas (Short stories to Read)

Anybody into horror stories? As someone who loves to read, horror/suspense stories happen to be my favorite and yet I can’t always find much time to read each day. Creepy pastas are the next best thing for this and so I have decided to compile a few of my favorites to share in case anybody was looking for a good story to read or something to just creep them out. These come with their links to read but you can always YouTube their titles and find audio and fan-made videos for them.

1.        1999 – The worst stories always involve children. In this story, the main character looks into what’s really going on behind some shows he grew up watching on an isolated TV network. One show in particular was about a man in a bear costumer who went by the name “Mr. Bear” and he ran his TV show program while in his house basement. The main character continues to find out more about Mr. Bear through a police investigation that is ongoing, involving the disappearance of children.

2.        Candle Cove – Another one about TV shows, this story comes in the form of a chat forum where teenagers are discussing about having watched a weird pirate-type show during their childhood with strange characters, one of them being called something like “the skin taker.” Looking further into how the show was, the forum participants find the show to be more eerie and sinister-sounding than their child-aged minds remember. On YouTube, they have fan-made videos of what the last episode was supposedly like.

3.        Gateway to the Mind – Scientists look into an experiment involving depriving a subject out of their five senses in order to attempt making contact with God. See what happens when an old man, with nothing else to lose, volunteers to become the subject of the science experiment.

4.        Abandoned by Disney – What’s creepier than an abandoned island? An abandoned island theme park left behind by Disney. In this story, you’re following the main character as he explores the abandoned Discovery Island, an actual abandoned theme park in the outskirts of Florida (look it up) that closed in 1999. What he finds to still exist there is downright creepy. There’s actually a YouTube video that does a really good job on telling the story with visuals instead of reading the lengthy/wordy text. It is highly recommended to watch/listen to the video instead.

5.        Suicide Mouse.avi – Another Disney-related story, this one also comes with an existing video that can be found in YouTube. Suicide Mouse.avi is a myth-like tale about a long lost black-and-white clip of our favorite mouse, Mickey Mouse, just walking down what seems to be a dark neighborhood. While walking, Mickey has a look on his face that seems to be of distress and later in the clip, sounds similar to that of screams begin to raise their volume. The myth-story tells of how a Disney employee found the eerie video and ended up having the misfortune of causing a coworker’s death. Watch the video first hand at your own risk. (My sister who works at Disneyland claims that this myth is actually true.)

Other ones are less scary but they’re fun to read about because they involve favorite characters from our childhood: Suicide Squidward (Sponge Bob), Dead Bart (Simpsons – there’s an actual video on YouTube, probably fan-made) and any of the Pokemon-related creepypastas that involve the video games.

These are just some that I had in mind or could remember. There’s always more that I have yet to read so if you have any suggestions, feel free to drop a comment below with a title or a link.
